A Journey Rooted in Practical Experience
My name is Lexsee Jones, and my path to becoming a directory blog writer specialising in trade services has been both intricate and enlightening. Growing up in a family of skilled artisans, I was surrounded by creativity and practicality from a young age. My father was a carpenter, while my mother ran her own small-scale interior design business. Watching them transform spaces and create functional yet beautiful environments was mesmerizing. I soaked up their insights and techniques, often spending weekends alongside them in their workshops and design studios.
After high school, I knew that traditional student life wasn’t exactly for me. Instead, I pursued an apprenticeship in plumbing. I wanted to understand the mechanics of the trade and develop a hands-on talent that would serve me well in life. Those early mornings spent lugging toolboxes and learning about piping and installation was a stark contrast to the more glamorous aspects of home services, but it instilled a sense of resilience and determination in me.
Diversifying Skills and Interests
While I revelled in the world of plumbing, I felt an insatiable appetite for knowledge that pushed me to expand my horizons. I pursued certifications in electrical work and HVAC systems, ultimately earning multiple licenses across the trades. My time as a tradesperson was filled with valuable lessons about teamwork, problem-solving, and the importance of effective communication between clients and contractors. Each job was an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow.
But my love for writing had always simmered beneath the surface. I’ve kept a journal since childhood, capturing thoughts and experiences, but I didn’t fully embrace writing until my first job as a plumbing apprentice. I began documenting my work experiences for a trade magazine, which led to my first published articles within the construction sector. The feedback I received—from colleagues and readers alike—encouraged me to explore this writing passion more seriously.
